Prague welcomed the Mattoni Grand Drink, the oldest and most significant world competition of professional barmen in preparation of non-alcoholic cocktails, for the first time. It thus followed Budapest, Krakow, Riga, Karlovy Vary and Berlin.

The winning drink, the best non-alcoholic cocktail in the world, is Grappatoni. The expert jury, consisted of presidents of national bartenders associations, indicated it as the winner of this year’s Mattoni Grand Drink 2008. Vasil Kolev from Bulgaria thus won a prestigious victory as well as the major prize of USD 10,000.-. Fabio Bacchi from Italy and Pascalle Leungen van Roon from Netherlands finished in the following places.

An original perfect taste of the drink that contains Mattoni mineral water, too, was very appreciated by Hana Soukupová, one of the most beautiful top models of the world, current face of a new spot of Mattoni, at the prize distributing ceremony in the Prague Municipal House.

Twenty professional barmen from nineteen countries of the world participated in the world’s final of Mattoni Grand Drink. It was also attended by representatives of Italy, Great Britain, European barman powers, and by a delegate from exotic Armenia.

This year’s exclusive novelty was a grandiose cocktail night, in the course of which sixteen of the most renowned Prague bars were competing from Friday evening till Saturday early morning. The best bar and the winner of Mattoni Grand Bar became Cloud 9 with the cocktail Ginger Rain. Life Café and Music Bar with the drink Small Square Frozen Bubbles won the bars´ visitors vote.

“We were very pleased with the course of Friday night, which overcame our expectations. We wanted to bring the art of the top barmen near to people and also to show them how to celebrate healthily and fashionably. The interest was so enormous that some bars were threatened that –there is no more Mattoni-, but finally we managed all,“ Alessandro Pasquale smiled.
