Rules of Mattoni Grand Drink 2007   Professional

1. PREAMBLE

The 11th Annual Mattoni Grand Drink 2007 Contest (further only MGD 2007) is an international barmen’s competition in creating the best non-alcoholic drink in the “cobbler” category, using MATTONI Mineral Water, a product of Karlovarské minerální vody a.s. (further only KMV.)
The main organizer of the contest is the Czech Barmen’s Association (further only CBA), the main sponsor of the contest is the International Bartenders Association (further only IBA), the main partner is KMV.

The contest is advertised in the category:

b) PROFESSIONAL - The contest is multinational and is open to the members of the IBA. Each Barman’s Association within the IBA has the right to nominate one participant. Further, each semi-finalist and finalist from the World Cocktail Competition organized by the IBA in the year 2006, has the right to join the contest. The Organizer of the contest reserves the right to directly nominate any another participant.

October 26th – 28th, 2007, Riga, Latvia


CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN COMPETITION

a) registering by e-mail using Registration Form found on website www.mattonigranddrink.com
b) The Registration Form will be available on the above-listed website.
c) The contestants must send the recipe for their entry drink for each beverage category along with its digital photograph / (photograph oriented vertically,) with a resolution of 72 DPI, maximum height: 450px, maximum width: 500px, maximum size: 80KB, JPEG dimension (do not use extreme compression)/. The picture should show the entire glass with the beverage, including a complete view of the decoration. The background should be neutral.
d) Adhere to the conditions for preparing the drink (see below).
e) Recognize the rules of the competition and abide by them.

ORGANIZATION OF THE CONTEST
PROFESSIONAL

All recipes that comply with the conditions of the competition and are registered into the contest will be confirmed in writing to the competitors by the Organization Committee within 14 days upon the reception of their Registration Form (certification of acceptance of the recipe will be sent to participants at their e-mail address along with details of the organization of the contest itself.)

The qualifiers for the PROFESSIONAL Contest from the semi-finalists and finalists of the World Cocktail Competition organized by the IBA in the year 2006 have the right to obtain partial compensation for their documented expenses up to the amount of CZK 10,000.-.


JUDGMENT


The competition will be judge by jury which will be nominated by International Bartenders Association. The each jury member must be national guild president or vice president. The President of the jury will be nominated by the IBA President. The President of the jury will look after the rules and will be responsible for fair judgment. The final result must be confirmed by the jury President.


PRIZES
PROFESSIONAL

The winner of the PROFESSIONAL Mattoni Grand Drink 2007 Contest will receive a Certificate and 10,000. - USD. All other participants of the finals will receive a Certificate. The Barmen Association of the PROFESSIONAL Contest winner will be awarded 5,000. - USD.

Competition Task

The recipes entered into the contest must be original, must not have been published either in print or virtually and ingredients used must be commonly available in the EU shopping network.

The recipe must conform to the character of non alcoholic long drink. The contestants must use at least 10 cl of Mattoni mineral water in their recipe. The use of any other mineral water or any liquid containing CO2 is not allowed.

The volume of the drink without ice addition must range just above 15 cl but not exceeding 25 cl of liquid immediately after beverage preparation. The volume of melted ice, or as the case may be, of the ice itself will not be considered in the volume of the drink.

Any potential embellishments to the drink must be edible and can create an identifiable emblem. The garnishes will not be included in the list of nutrition and ingredient components of the beverage.

The beverages garnishes can be prepared in the preparation room. The contestants are limited to 15 minutes in the preparation room and 10 minutes on stage.

The arrangement of the garnishment to the drink must take place during the preparation of the drink itself.

The recipe is not limited by the number of the ingredients or products, but the volume of all drinks must range between 15 – 25 cl not including the volume of the added ice. The volume of melted ice, or as the case may be, of the ice itself will not be considered in the volume of the drink.

All of the ingredients or products used in the preparation of the drink must be readily available in the shops of the EU.

The drink will be prepared in 6 portions.

The competitor supplies the glasses for the 6 portions.

Ingredients and products used in the drink aside from the Mattoni Mineral Water are supplied by the competitor himself.

During the competition the contestants must perform in their club uniforms or in a barman’s outfit.

Criteria of Evaluation:

A. Preparation Technique:
The evaluation procedures and point system of the WCC IBA.

B. Beverage Quality:
The evaluation procedures and point system of the WCC IBA.

The winner of the competition is the contestant with the highest point evaluation. Points for the individual evaluations make up the placement. In case of a tie, the highest quality of the drinks points decides the winner. If this still does not determine the winner, then the next criterion is the highest mark for the preparation technique and finally the winner would be decided by a toss of the coin.


MISCELANEOUS

The Main Partner of the Contest reserves the rights to publish the recipes and photographs of the drinks and the participants, listing the name of the author of the publicized drink for an unlimited time.

These proposals have been discussed and approved by the organizer of the contest.
