Armagnac Sempé Vintage

Armagnac Sempé VintageNever Armagnac is the "older" cousin of Cognac (both brandies, but Armagnac is about 200 years older), distilled only once it's produced from the highest-quality grapes. The main grape is the Folle Blanche. Armagnac can spend a century or more in a cellar without loosing its fire, finesse or elegance.
The Armagnac county lies well to south of Bordeaux and reaches out towards the Pirenees. It's an hilly and hot area flavoured by those mountains, and by the influences of Basque and Gascon history. Its famous brandy is produced in the "Dcpartement of Gers and the Landes.
The cellar of Armagnac Sempé, the best known Armagnac in the world, hold vintage dated treasures from the early 1900s to the present. This year, a number of Vintage Sempé bottlings are being shipped worldwide in time for the 2001 Christmas holiday, from the years 1941,1942,1961,1965.1973,1975,1981 and 1986. They will be on the shelves in selected wine & spirit shops.
They vary in suggested retail price from $80 to over $700, depending upon vintage, and are packed in a handsome wooden gift box.
For more information on vintage Armagnac Sempé, contact your local Sempé distributor or exclusive importer.
